Discover: Reading and Leeds Festival
Started back in the 1950s as Beaulieu Jazz Festival, The Reading Festival is undoubtedly one of the oldest and most popular festivals which takes pride in hosting artists such as Pink Floyd, Metallica, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Green Day, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, The Who, Eminem, Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Guns n’ Roses and other such legends of that league. Though it was only in 1971 that the festival permanently settled on Reading as its venue for the coming years. The festival had to expand when it became clear that it was too small to accommodate the increasing demand and thus Leeds Festival was born as its second leg in 1999.
From jazz to blues to progressive and hard rock to heavy metal, this festival have had its musical phases though since 1999, rock, alternative, indie, punk and metal have tended to dominate.
Being family friendly, the festival welcomes children below the age of 13 though it recommends not to bring them along for their own security and safety concerns and the festival manages to remain pocket friendly with ticket prices for day tickets being as low as 72 Pounds.
You can expect a crowd with good music taste, that’s for certain, considering the lineup that includes Eminem, Muse, Major Lazer, Breaking Benjamin and such artists. On top of that, you can expect to chill out with them over three days at their camp site because everyone needs people with similar taste in their circle.
