Splendour In The Grass Is Offering A Unique Scholarship
Two of the things that most of us music lovers have in common is:
- We all want to attend mind-numbingly awesome music festivals such as Splendour In The Grass
- We’re usually very short on cash.
Starting in 2002, Splendour has gone on to gain popularity with each successive year and has achieved the status of being one of the most elite music festivals in the world. Along with such reputation and a penchant for attracting the best bands in the world, Splendour, like other such festivals, cost a fortune.
But, Splendour comes to the rescue of us fellow “strapped for cash” individuals looking to attend the festival with the bare-minimum level of expenses.
Full and half scholarships are being offered by the Splendour Assistance and Cash Contribution (SACC) program and is open to financially-challenged students from across the country. This makes the first independent event to provide such a program.
Those vying for a highly coveted full-fee scholarship must prove they deserve the spot by demonstrating two skills: the first mandatory component involves finding effective and creative ways of stashing drugs on one’s person, while the second component is a choice between speed tent-pitching or best muddy moshing.
The SACC has confirmed that 97% of the ticket buyers have also applied for the scholarship, so it’s pretty safe to say that the program has been a success so far.
A student Jake Evans had this to say: “I think it’s huge. These festies are just a hub for young people to tune out from responsibilities and money is a big one of those. Splendour is smart for taking advantage of that.”
Programs like these from such a huge mainstream festival might just set the trend for other festivals to follow. This means only great things for festival-goers.
